DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre women's soccer moved on to the next round of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament after a 2-0 shutout win over no. 7 seed Berry College.
The no. 2 seeded Colonels moved to 12-2-4 overall and go on to face no. 3 seed Rhodes in the SAA Tournament semifinal next week.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The first half was scoreless for both squads, but Centre held several clear advantages. The home side held a 17-0 advantage in shots in the first frame, four of which were on frame, and had six corner kicks to the Vikings zero.
- In the 54th minute the Gold & White notched their first goal of the 2023 postseason campaign.
Alexis Kronenthal passed a long ball to
Riley Givens who beat a defender to score a goal at the top of the goal area.
- Kronenthal was part of the next goal as well. The sophomore took sent a corner kick to
Megan Sidaway who headed in the final goal of the quarterfinal match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels dominated in almost every team category. The Gold & White squad led in shots 34-2, shots on goal 12-0, and corner kicks 16-0. The home team also played a clean second half as they committed no fouls in that period.
- Saturday marked the third time this season that Centre has allowed no shots on goal.
- The Colonels had a new season high in corner kicks as the home team took 16.

Megan Sidaway led the match in shots with nine.
Alexis Kronenthal had a match-high four shots on target. Nine Centre players tallied at least one shot in the contest.
- Kronenthal's two assists were a career match high. She has helped out on six goals this season.

Grace Dutcher was the keeper for Centre all 90 minutes and picked up her fourth shutout of the 2023 season.

The Colonels face Rhodes in the SAA Tournament semifinal on Friday, Nov. 3 on the campus of the highest remaining seed. Time for that match will be determined in the near future.
