Davidson’s hat trick pushes Colonels to victory

DANVILLE, Ky.Drew Davidson's career day led Centre men's soccer to a 3-1 win over Hendrix College in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament quarterfinal match.

The Colonels' record is 8-6-3 moving into their semifinal match. Centre will face no. 2 seed Rhodes in the next round.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Despite being on top in shots (11-2) and possessing the ball for a majority of the time in the first half (63 percent to 37 percent) the Warriors scored the only goal of the frame thanks to a penalty kick. The 1-0 lead was held for 13:05 of game time.
- The Colonels evened things up in the 58th minute. A Taylor Nelson throw-in connected with the head of Drew Davidson and then into the net.
- Davidson added his name into the box score yet again in the 62nd minute. John Palomino passed to a streaking Davidson coming up the left side. The goalie had his attention on Palomino so a light touch from Davidson moved the score to 2-1.
- The goal that completed the hat-trick came in the 73rd minute. Alec McAlister passed to Davidson who scored from the top left side of the penalty area. It was the final goal in the 3-1 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre finished the game with a 17-3 advantage in total shots, a 7-1 margin in shots on goal, and held posession of the ball for 14 percent more than the visiting team.
- Drew Davidson's three goals are a new career high for the Colonel. It also marked the most goals by an individual for Centre in a match this season. He led the contest in both shots (4) and shots on goal (3).
- It was the fourth match this season that the Gold & White scored three goals in.
