MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Centre volleyball continued its hot streak on Saturday afternoon as the Colonels knocked off the Rhodes Lynx in four sets for their 11th victory in conference play and 17th overall. The Colonels have won 10 of their last 11 games.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening set was close the whole way as neither team led by more than four at any point. Eventually it was the Lynx who gained the advantage, taking the lead for good at 19-18 and taking a 25-22 win.
- The Colonels scored the first four points of the second set and never trailed, leading by as many as 11 points at 18-7 and pulling away to a 25-18 victory after kills by
Syd Bietz and
Emily Goddin.
- Centre would have to play from behind in the third set as Rhodes jumped out to a 15-6 lead. The Colonels used a 10-2 to get back into the match and then scored five straight late to grab the lead as they took advantage of Rhodes miscues. A kill by
Abby Swartz slammed the door on a 25-21 win to give Centre a 2-1 lead in the match.
- With the score tied 15-15 in the fourth set,
Brooke Palmer's kill gave Centre the edge, and while Rhodes would cut it to within one on four separate occasions, Centre kept them from getting over the hump as Goddin put home the final kill in a 25-23 victory to complete the series sweep against Rhodes.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bietz and Goddin each led the Colonels with game highs of 13 kills.

Emily Gardner finished with a game high 39 assists, ten more than Rhodes had as a team.
- The Colonels held a 63-46 edge in digs, led by
Madi Barron with 15.
- The nine-point deficit in the third set was the largest set comeback of the season for the Colonels.
