Women’s soccer blanks Warriors to keep streak alive

DANVILLE, Ky. - A 3-0 shutout win over Hendrix College on Friday at Amend Field kept Centre women's soccer undefeated in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) action.  

The Colonels now sit at 7-1-4 overall and an unblemished 3-0 in SAA play.   

GAME HIGHLIGHTS  
- The Gold & White took 14 shots in the first frame with one from Riley Givens finding the back of the net in the 44th minute. Buckley Sparks sent the ball to Givens who sent a header past the opposing keeper. 
- An own goal, that bounced off one of the Warriors, in the 63rd minute put Centre up 2-0. 
- The final score of the game came less than two minutes after the one before it. A Hendrix foul set the Colonels up for a penalty kick. Maggie Corbett took the shot and sent it to the left of the leaping keeper.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE  
- The Centre defense limited the Warriors to just one shot in the first half. The Colonels also led in corner kicks (4-0) in the first half and held a 64 percent to 36 percent advantage in possession. 
- The final team stat tallies leaned heavily in favor of the home team. Centre had the advantage in total shots 26-3, shots on goal 15-1, and corner kicks 11-0. 
- The shots on goal number was the highest for the team all season and the corner kicks tally tied the season-high. 
- Megan Sidaway led the match with five shots, three of which came on goal.  
- A total of 11 Colonels took shots in the match with seven of those squad member taking multiple shots. Nine of those players had shots on goal and four out of that number had multiple attempts on frame. 
- Grace Dutcher picked up her third win of the year after another 90 minutes in goal for Centre. It was her second shutout of the season.
