Comeback extends SAA win streak to five

DANVILLE, Ky.- On Sunday afternoon, the Centre women's soccer team honored their seniors with an SAA match-up against the Lynx of Rhodes College. With two seniors, Megan Sidaway and Cara Francke, registering goals, the Colonels remain undefeated in the league as they down the Lynx by a score of 2-1.   
 
After Sunday's win, Centre women's soccer improves to 8-1-4 overall and a perfect 3-0 in SAA play. 
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS   

- The Gold & White commanded the offensive possession for much of the opening half, having 8 looks at cage while the Lynx were unable to manage one. By the end of the first half, neither team would successfully find the back of the net, halting the score at 0-0 entering the break. 

- The Lynx swiftly commenced the second half, registering the game's opening goal in the 55th minute. Now trailing, the Colonels quickly answered the Lynx, finding a goal in senior Cara Francke with the assist coming from Annabel Justice. Less than four minutes later, Megan Sidaway joined her fellow senior in the scoring column. Connecting with Bella Nelson, Sidaway claimed the game's final goal, finalizing the score at Centre two, Rhodes one.  

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE   

- Both of Centre's goals, and assists, came from seniors. Francke claimed the first with the helper coming from Justice while Sidaway netted her goal with the helper from Nelson. 
- Sidaway led the match with five shots. 
- Centre's defense held the Lynx to just two total shots on goal; The Colonels tallied a total of 16 shots. 
- The Gold & White favored in corner kicks (2-0).

Centre women's soccer will next travel crosstown for a mid-week match-up. They'll face Asbury on Wednesday, Oct. 11th, at 7 p.m. ET.
