Centre volleyball wins five straight with sweep at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – The Centre volleyball team concluded the first half of a four-game road trip with another victory as they improved to 12-6 on the year and 6-1 in conference play with a 3-0 win over the Millsaps Majors.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The opening set was the closest one of the contest as it featured multiple lead changes and ties, with neither team leading by more than three. Millsaps took its final lead at 22-21, but Syd Bietz and Brooke Palmer snagged the advantage back for the Colonels and Abby Swartz delivered the closing kill on a 25-23 Centre victory.
- Centre jumped out of the gates aggressively in the second set, opening up to an early 9-3 lead. The Colonels led by as many as ten points following a kill from Emily Gardner. Following a run by the Majors, Centre slammed the door on the set with five straight points to end it, culminating the 25-15 win on a block by Swartz.
- The third set played out in nearly identical fashion for the Colonels. Centre jumped out to the early lead, gradually extended it throughout the frame and never looked back. Olivia Chojnacki provided the final kill on a 25-15 win to complete the sweep for Centre, the Colonels' fifth win in a row.
