Colonels fend off Panthers in final minutes

HANOVER, Ind.- Centre women's basketball traveled north for their final game before breaking for the holiday. Facing the Hanover Panthers, the Colonels found themselves behind in the early minutes of play. After a second half resurgence, the Gold & White downed the Panthers by a final score of 89-86.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels got off to a slow start, going down 11-2 in the game's opening minutes. Bailey Rucker would later kick start an 8-2 run to put the Colonels within four entering the next period.
- The Gold & White opened the second quarter with a 4-0 run to tie the game. Just after, Anna Thomas drained one from long range, handing Centre their first lead of the game. For the remainder of the half, both teams traded scoring runs. Centre's Charley Harper closed the quarter with a deep, buzzer-beating three to bring the score to 47-45, Hanover favoring.
- Centre possessed the momentum opening the second half. Rucker initiated the scoring and just after, a trio of threes from Lilly Reid and Emma Perna gave Centre their largest lead yet. The two teams would continue to answer one another's baskets, but a scoring run by Emma Rose Vincent and Rucker granted Centre a five-point edge entering the final period.
