Men's basketball shuts down Spalding, 61-52

DANVILLE, Ky. – Following Sunday's first win of the season and the Thanksgiving break, the Centre men's basketball team returned to action as they hosted the Spalding Golden Eagles. The Colonels defeated the Golden Eagles 61-52 to pick up their second consecutive win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The first half was a low scoring affair as the Colonels held a small lead throughout. Freshman Landen Hamilton came off the bench and hit consecutive jumpers to put Centre on top 20-15.
- Leading 23-20 with 90 seconds to go, Cade Stinnett scored five straight points to close out the half and give Centre a 28-20 lead at the break.
- The second half began in a similar fashion as the first, with both teams struggling to make shots. Over the first eight minutes of the half, Spalding rallied to tie the score at 35-35. Noah Ring buried a big three-pointer to put Centre back on top, and then Hamilton forced a turnover and fed Stinnett for a streaking layup to put the Colonels ahead by five.
- The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to one point at the halfway mark, but Centre rallied to score the next eight. Caleb Maul came up huge with two crucial buckets and Izayiah Villafuerte capped off the run with a three to make it a 48-39 lead.
- The Colonels cruised from there, icing the game at the free throw line to secure their second straight victory.
