SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Centre men's basketball team began conference play as they hit the road to face the Sewanee Tigers. The Tigers snapped Centre's three-game winning streak as they won by a score of 86-77.

Izayiah Villafuerte opened the scoring with a three-pointer and the lead changed hands several times over the opening ten minutes.
Riley Mastin carried the scoring load for the Colonels in the first half as the Colonels took a 15-14 lead at the halfway mark of the half.
- The Tigers played with a small lead for most of the rest of the half as they knocked down nine threes. Sewanee led by as many as seven points at 37-30 before two
Landen Hamilton free throws cut the deficit to 37-32 at the break.

Cade Stinnett caught fire for the Colonels early in the second half as he scored ten points in the first five minutes to cut the deficit to a point at 46-45. A three-pointer from
Carter Baughman gave the Colonels their first lead in over 15 minutes of game action.
- With the score tied at 51-51, Sewanee pulled ahead with the next seven points. Centre rebounded to cut it to one on another Baughman three, but the Tigers held the Colonels at bay. Centre again narrowed the deficit to one basket at 70-67 on a putback from
Chez Moore, but Sewanee answered with another 7-0 spurt and iced the game at the free throw line to secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- After shooting their best percentage of the season their last game against Franklin, the Colonels hit 35.2 percent from the floor against Sewanee. The Tigers shot 53 percent for the game, including 58 percent in the second half.
- Centre outrebounded the Tigers 44-33 for the game, including a 16-2 edge on the offensive glass. Moore led all players with 11 boards.
- Stinnett paced the Colonels with 22 points, with Baughman adding a season high 18 and Mastin scoring 14.
- The Colonels forced 17 Sewanee turnovers, with Hamilton recording a game high four steals.

The Colonels will be back in action on Dec. 5 as they play Berea on the road.
