Women's basketball celebrates Senior Day against the Vikings

DANVILLE, Ky. – On Sunday afternoon, the Centre women's basketball team hosted Berry for their Senior Day. After a third quarter stall, the Colonels fell to the Vikings by a score of 58-53.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Both teams battled for the lead in the game's initial quarter. Centre planted more buckets, but the Vikings found much of their success at long range, putting them one point ahead entering the second period.
- Opening the second quarter, senior Payton Herold hit two sequential threes to put the Colonels in the lead. Makya Grinter and Bailey Rucker added buckets just after, assisting to Centre's 10-0 score run. Rucker held eight points alone in the second quarter, aiding to the Colonel's 10-point edge entering half. 
- Coming out of the break firing, the Vikings initiated their comeback with a 5-0 run. Berry held the Colonels to just four points the entirety of the period, simultaneously taking 15 points of their own. 
- Trialing by one, Emma Rose Vincent opened the final quarter with a jumper in the paint to repossess Centre's lead. Berry answered with a 7-0 run that the Colonels would never recover from. The Gold & White fought their way back into the game but ultimately found themselves in foul trouble. At the line, the Vikings went 8-8 in the game's closing two minutes, finalizing the score at Berry 58, Centre 53.  
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels had three players with points in the double figures. Rucker led with 14-point, adding two steals, three blocks, and four rebounds. Herold and Vincent followed with 11-points apiece.
- The two teams struggled from long range. Centre held a 33 percent opposed to Berry's 20 percent. 
- The Colonels bettered the Vikings in rebounds, taking 41 to their 33.

Centre women's basketball will head to Sewanee to close their regular season. The two teams will tip-off on Wednesday, February 15th, at 6:00 p.m. ET.
