Centre closes out Alabama road trip

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After snagging a win on Saturday in their double-header, the Centre softball team (2-6) stepped back out on the field on Sunday for another double-header against Fontbonne and Huntingdon. The Colonels couldn't garner a win on the day, falling to Fontbonne 8-0 and Huntingdon 12-4.

GAME 1: Fontbonne 8, Centre 0
- The Gold & White traded punch-for-punch with the Griffins in the first inning, both laying out a single in their first chance at the plate. Tori Candler was the Colonels' student-athlete to get the hit, sending a shot to center field.
- Centre was able to move a runner in scoring position during the bottom of the third inning, Abby Duncan putting a single through the shortstop and Hailey Watson later claiming a free base off a smart at-bat.
- Fontbonne would erupt for seven runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings, breaking the stalemate to claim the lead.
- Senior Sawyer Lecius tried to spark a rally in the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff double to left field, but even after stealing third base she would be left on at the end of the inning.
- The Colonels would push a double-steal play in the final inning of play, Emily Lammers and Andrea Searcy moving bases before the game's conclusion.

GAME 2: Huntingdon 12, Centre 4
- Huntingdon kicked off the game with a couple runs, but Centre would strike back quickly in the second inning after Morgan Tabor earned her first collegiate RBI off a single to left field.
- Lydia Rice would send another run home off a multi-base hit, reaching second base with her left-field hit to bring Searcy across the plate.
- After Taylor Webb and Duncan would hit back-to-back singles in the top of the fifth inning, both ended up scoring in a combination of a wild pitch and an Emily Lammers double to center field for the final Centre runs of the game.
