MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After trailing by as many as 13 points in the second half, the Centre men's basketball team staged a furious rally against the Rhodes Lynx and had two possessions in the final minute with a chance to take the lead, but the comeback fell one point short as the Colonels lost by a score of 66-65.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Rhodes drained a three-pointer for the first points of the game, but Centre quickly answered with ten straight, capped off by consecutive threes from
Colby Raymer and
Carter Baughman.
- The Lynx eventually found their touch and tied the score at the halfway point of the first half, and then the game went back and forth for the rest of the half with neither team leading by more than four. Another Baughman three in the final minute cut the Centre deficit to 30-29 going into the locker room at halftime.
- To start the second half, Rhodes stormed out of the gates with six quick points and eventually used separate 8-0 spurts to hold the Colonels at bay and extend to a double-digit lead. A free throw gave the Lynx a 66-53 advantage at the last media timeout before Centre launched a final assault.

Cade Stinnett began the comeback with a driving bucket on the break.
Pete Knochelmann hit a free throw and then blocked a shot that resulted in a Rhodes shot clock violation.
Jaxson Banks came off the bench to nail a short jumper to cut the lead to single digits at 66-58.

Drew Wilson canned a pair of free throws, and then after Rhodes missed the front end of a bonus from the line, Stinnett grabbed his own miss in the paint and scored again to make it 66-62. Following a timeout, Centre pressed the inbounds pass and
Chez Moore played free safety, picking the ball off and leading to a Baughman three to cut it to 66-65.
- Centre got the ball back on yet another steal, but the offensive possession ended on a charge call. The Colonels had one more crack at the win after another missed front end by the Lynx, but the shot was off target and Rhodes survived.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Baughman led all players with 21 points for one of his best shooting performances of the year.
- Stinnett added 20 points and tied for a game high with ten rebounds, giving him three double-doubles in his last five contests.

Marshall Taylor equaled his career high from the previous game with five steals.
