The Colonels fall to Berry

ROME, Ga. – On Friday evening, the Centre women's lacrosse team traveled to Berry College for their first Southern Athletic Association (SAA) competition of the season. Due to inclement weather, the game experienced a delayed start and technical issues. 
 
In their first travel game of the year, the Colonels fell to the Vikings by a score of 22-6. Dropping their first SAA contest of the season, Centre women's lacrosse moves to a 2-2 record, 0-1 in the SAA.

 GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Vikings came out firing, tallying a trio of unanswered goals in the opening minutes of the game. Lily Gahm put Centre on the board with an unassisted goal, but Berry would fire off four additional points before quarter's end.
-Entering the second period, the score sat at 7-1 in the Viking's favor. Berry's offense continued their dominance, landing three additional goals before the Colonels would place another. Addie Lewis and Haley Rice broke the Viking's 7-0 score run by netting two back-to-back goals. The home team landed another triad of goals before the halftime break. 
- In the second half, the Vikings added three to the board just before Centre's Ella Treinen closed the quarter with two consecutive goals.  
- Lewis opened the fourth period by netting her second goal of the game, the helper coming from Erin Reynolds. The Vikings answered with four successive points, finalizing the score at Berry 22, Centre 6. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Lewis and Treinen were the leading scorers for Centre with two apiece.
- Berry had the advantage in shots taken, attempting 40 compared to Centre's 18.
- The Colonels favored in ground balls, collecting 19 to the opposing's 17.
- In goal, Gracey Falk led the game in saves, denying 13.

Centre women's lacrosse will return home for their next competition. They host Baldwin Wallace for a midweek game on Thursday, Mar. 9, at 6:30 p.m. ET.
