MEMPHIS, Tenn.- On Saturday, the Centre women's lacrosse team hit the road after a lengthy stent at home. Traveling to Memphis, the Colonels fell to Southern Athletic Association's (SAA) Rhodes by a score of 21-4, moving to 2-2 in conference.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels struggled to find their offensive footing in the opening 15 minutes of play. Holding Centre scoreless, Rhodes held an eight-point lead by the end of the quarter.
- The Colonels gathered their first point in the second period,
Haley Rice laying one in off a free-position opportunity. Rhodes would collect five additional goals before the end of the half, moving the score to 13-1, in the Lynx's favor.
- Out of half, the Colonels struck first, finding a goal in
Gracie Garner during a man-up possession. The Lynx followed up with three successive goals to close the period.
- The Colonels caught momentum in the final quarter, netting two straight goals from
Erin Reynolds and Garner, Reynolds being the last Centre athlete in the scoring column for the day. Rhodes would conclude the game with three additional goals that would set the final score at Rhodes 21, Centre four.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Garner led the Colonels in goals with two. Rice and Reynolds followed with one point apiece.
- On the draw circle, Centre just trailed Rhodes, having nine compared to the opposing 13.
- The Colonels collected 12 ground balls while the Lynx took 21.
- In goal,
Gracey Falk stopped six of Rhodes' shots.
