LEXINGTON, Ky- On Wednesday evening, the Colonels traveled across town to face in-state rivals, Transylvania. After a slow start, Centre women's lacrosse fell to the Pioneers by a score of 20-10, moving to a 7-7 overall record.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold & White struggled to find their offensive footing in the opening quarter of play. The Pioneers netted five before the Colonels found their first goal in
Ella Treinen with just 15 seconds left in the period.
- Opening the second quarter Treinen continued to front Centre's offense, placing two additional goals to cut Transylvania's score deficit in half. By the end of the second period, the Pioneers placed five added goals, taking the score to 11-3 entering halftime.
- Out of the break, Transylvania netted two consecutive goals just before
Haley Rice joined Treinen in the scoring column. After a nearly five-minute scoring freeze, rookie
Gracie Garner broke the silence with two sucsessive goals less than a minute apart. The Pioneers would answer with a 3-0 run, but just after, Treinen closed the quarter with her fourth goal of the game.
- Transylvania opened the final quarter's scoring, simultaneously taking the game into running clock. For the remainder of the contest, the two teams traded two-goal scoring runs that would eventually finalize the score at Transylvania 20, Centre 10.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Treinen tied for the game's leader in goals with 5. Rice was next with three, followed by Garner who netted two.

Skylan Thompson and Treinen tied for Centre's lead in ground balls, each taking four.
- On defense, the Colonels completed 12-18 clears, their opponents finishing 12-19.
