SEWANEE, Tenn.- Centre women's lacrosse hit the road for their final game of the 2023 regular season play. Trekking to Sewanee, the Colonels' slow start ultimately cost them. With a final score of 20-12, the Gold & White move to a 7-8 overall record, 3-3 in the SAA.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the opening 15 minutes of play.
Lily Gahm notched Centre's singular goal of the quarter during a free-position opportunity seven minutes in. Landing 11 goals to the Colonels' one, the Tigers brought the game into running clock entering the next period.
- Sewanee landed the first goal of the period, but rookie
Erin Reynolds responded moments later with the help from
Addie Lewis.
Gracie Garner would be the next Colonel in the scoring column after connecting with
Haley Rice. Sewanee would land three additional goals, closing the first half score at 15-3, the Tigers favoring.
- Opening the second half, Gahm initiated the scoring with a free-position goal, Garner following in next possession with the helper from Lewis.
Isa Stumpf collected Centre's last goal of the quarter with the assist from Gahm. In the third period, the Tigers bettered the Colonels by just one goal, moving the score deficit to 12 entering the game's final quarter.
- The fourth period proved to be the Gold & White's best showing yet. Garner opened the Colonels' 5-0 scoring run after Rice found her open off the right side of the crease. Five minutes later, Stump collected the next goal, simultaneously bringing the game out of running clock. Rice, Stumpf, and
Ella Treinen followed with three uncontested goals just before Sewanee notched their first goal of the period with a minute remaining in regulation. In the next possession, Rice and Gahm teamed up for the game's final goal, freezing the score at Sewanee 20, Centre 12.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Stumpf, Garner, and Gahm tied for Centre's leading scores, each having a hat-trick. Treinen, Rice, and Reynolds followed with one apiece.
- Gahm led the team in both ground balls (4) and caused turnovers (2).

Gracey Falk collected the game's most saves with eight, Sewanee having seven.
- The Tigers just edged out the Colonels in 50-50 balls, taking 17 to Centre's 15.
