BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After coming close to earning a victory on Saturday, the Centre softball team (14-16, 10-8 SAA) took the diamond once more on Sunday against #14 Birmingham Southern for the series finale. The Gold & White couldn't spark their bats alive in the five-inning game, falling on a final score of 8-0.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Andrea Searcy started the game well for the Colonels in the circle, putting away three-straight batters after the leadoff hitter reached first base in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Panthers would put up a pair of runs in the second inning, breaking the ice and taking the lead.
- Centre would post threats in the top of the third inning,
Cheney Floyd and
Izzy Rushing both slapping singles before
Tori Candler's walk would push them up another base.
- Freshman
Layne Ogle would help keep the deficit from growing any larger out in left field, snagging fly balls in all three of the outs for Centre in the bottom of the third inning.
- The bottom of the fourth inning would be where Birmingham Southern would score a slew of runs, extending the lead to eight by the bottom of the fifth inning.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rushing continued her impressive batting average on Sunday, now holding a hit in seven of the last eight games. The freshman's batting average now stands at .421.
- Candler's walk marks the third for her this season, the freshman earning her 44th trip to first base so far this spring.
- The Colonels' 55.5-percent win rate in-conference (10-8) is the highest mark they've achieved since the 2017 season (55.8-percent).
