SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Centre softball team (13-11, 10-4 SAA) stepped back onto the field on Saturday for a doubleheader on the road, facing off against SAA-opponent Sewanee Tigers down south to try and reach double-digit conference wins in 2023. The Colonels would do just that, winning one of the two games against the Tigers with 17 combined runs.
GAME ONE: Sewanee 8, Centre 5
- After
Izzy Rushing would lead off the game with a double in the game's first inning, freshman
Emily Lammers would push her across home plate with a two-RBI home run. Lammers' home run on Saturday is her second of the season.
- Tori Chandler would push Rushing past home plate for the Louisville, Ky., native's second run in two at-bats, Candler pushing a double of her own to extend the lead to three runs.
- The Colonels wouldn't stop with just that in the third inning, Candler rounding home plate off a Sewanee errors and Searcy's ball placed in play driving in Lammers for a five-run lead.
- Sewanee would creep on the board in the fourth winning, cutting the lead to four runs.
- After a Tigers' home run would put the game within one, Sewanee would tally four runs in the sixth inning to seal the game against the Gold & White's favor.
GAME TWO: Centre 12, Sewanee 3

Lydia Rice would appear in the game as the Colonels' DP, shooting a single to help Centre score first with Candler reaching home plate.
- Sewanee would tie the game in the first, Rushing would repeat the team's first-inning RBI by pushing a single of her own that helped Watson get off third base.
- After the Tigers would once again tie the game in the second inning, Centre would post three-straight unanswered runs from Gregory, Watson and Searcy.
- The sixth inning would be the Gold & White's strongest inning of the day, totaling seven runs in the half-inning alone to conclude the game.
- Rice and
Layne Ogle would each earn multiple-RBI hits during the sixth-inning stretch, Searcy earning her second RBI off the day off a double while
Abby Duncan and Rushing each earning a single to drive in runs.
- Starting pitcher
Lucy Baseheart would earn her sixth win of the season, pitching a complete game and only allowing three runs across the 28 batters faced.

The Colonels will have one more match against the Tigers before wrapping up the weekend, playing one final game on Sunday, April 2 to decide the season series. The game is set for a 1 p.m. ET first pitch.
