Men's lacrosse romps to victory over Stormy Petrels on Senior Day

DANVILLE, Ky.- On Saturday afternoon, Centre men's lacrosse honored their Class of 2023 with a Senior Day contest versus SAA's Oglethorpe. In their last regular season home game, the Colonels walloped the Stormy Petrels by a score of 16-3, improving to 4-1 in the league. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre's offense conducted the first half's scoring, placing ten goals to the Stormy Petrels' zero. Taking a comfortable lead, the Colonels held eight different athletes in the scoring column including Will Hubbs, Mick Ginnity, Ridr Knowlton, Ryan Black (2), Miguel Sayers (2), Max Speers, Griffin Weiss, and Christian Underhill.
- In the second half, the Gold & White continued their dominance, outscoring their opponents 6-3. During the third quarter, Duncan MacDonald joined the score sheet while Black and Knowlton tallied their second and third scores. In the final quarter, Ethan Hanna and Paxton Brown notched their first goals of the game while Sayers completed a hat-trick. At regulation's end, the score finalized at Centre 16, Oglethorpe 3. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels' roster held 11 different scorers throughout the contest. Sayers and Black tied for the game's lead, each taking a hat-trick. Knowlton was just behind them with two. 
- Centre dominated at the face-off, winning 16 of the 22 taken. Alex Mozingo fronted the team with 7-9, Chole Butler following with 8-12. Mozingo led the game in ground balls with seven. 
- The Colonels out shot the Stormy Petrels 50-21. In ground balls, Centre took 38, Oglethorpe found 22. 
- In the crease, all five of Centre's goalies saw minutes. Together, Sammy Zickel, Ramsay Cole, Hayden Burns, Kyle Granquist, and Avi Leffler collected nine saves while only having three goals scored against.

The Colonels will travel south for the last game of their regular season. They take on SAA's Sewanee on Apr. 15, at 3 p.m. ET.
