ANGOLA, Ind. – Finishing their weekend road trip up north on Sunday afternoon, the Centre women's soccer team (3-1-1) faced off against the Trine Thunder (1-1-3) before heading back to Kentucky. An aggressive first half paid off for the Gold & White, beating Trine on a final score of 1-0.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
-
Annabel Justice kicked off the offensive pressure with a shot in the game's first 30 seconds, pushing an attempt off the top-right side of the net that was too high.
- It wouldn't take long for the Colonels to find another chance at the back of the net,
Maggie Corbett getting an excellent shot off for the goal off the pass from
Bella Nelson.
- Trine would only be able to attempt two of their own shots at the goal in the back portion of the first half, junior goalkeeper
Anna Thomas keeping the shutout alive from the bottom-center and top-left sides of the net.
-
Alexis Kronenthal started the second half with a shot after the Thunder's corner kick, the ball moving just out of the left side.
- Centre was able to negate Trine's offense almost altogether in the second half, not allowing a single shot-on-goal for the half's first 44 minutes.
- Thomas was able to complete the shutout with a save on the bottom-left side of the goal in the game's final 30 seconds, blocking the final shot of the contest.
