LEXINGTON, Va.- On Saturday afternoon, the Colonels
continued with their road series, traveling north to face Washington & Lee (W&L). An early goal from the Generals set Centre back early, ultimately bringing the final score to W&L one, Centre zero.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The initial five minutes of play revealed a stalemate between the two teams, not a shot to be taken by either squad. The Generals broke the silence with a series of shots but Centre's goalkeeper,
Carlie McKenry, would deny all six. Just over a minute into the second period, W&L set in the game's first and only goal during a penalty corner opportunity, moving the score to 1-0.
- Out of halftime, the Generals continued their domination, attempting 19 shots while the Colonels took their first of two. The first Centre attempt came from
Meghan Speth during a penalty corner in the third while their second came from
Claire Martin in a fourth-quarter corner opportunity. With a scoreless second half, the game's final score remained at W&L one, Centre zero.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Generals took 33 shots, 16 of which were on frame. The Colonels attempted two with one being on frame.
- In goal,
Carlie McKenry collected an impressive 15 saves. This was her best game of the season thus far.
- W&L dominated in corner opportunities, having 12 compared to Centre's two.
