DANVILLE, Ky. – A tense Southern Athletic Association (SAA) home opener for the Centre men's soccer team ended in a 1-1 draw with Berry College.
The Colonels first tie of the season moved them to 4-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the SAA, while the Vikings now sit at 4-4-4 on the season and 0-0-2 in the league.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold & White offense was the first to light up the scoreboard.
Everett Hauser was awarded a penalty kick for the Colonels in the 11th minute. He took a beautiful shot that found home inside the net on the right side.
- The Vikings answered back just over 10 minutes later in the 21st minute. The score tied the game at 1-1, that stalemate held for the rest of the contest.
- Both teams were even in corner kicks (4-4) and shots on goal (1-1) in the opening half.
- Center's offense saw a more productive second half with a 10-9 advantage in shots and four corner kicks to Berry's one. The home team also added four shots on goal in the second frame to the visitor's one.
- The Colonels kept shooting in hopes of ending the tie. Shots from
Drew Davidson in the 76th and 81st minutes were both blocked while his shot in the 77th minute was saved. They were the final three Centre shots of the match.
- Defense held strong for the Gold & White as two late shots from the Vikings missed the frame completely.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The score for the Colonels was the second goal of the season for
Everett Hauser. The penalty kick was the second of the year for the Gold & White and the first to reach the back of the net.

Drew Davidson's seven total shots led the Centre effort and set a new career-high for the junior.

Jacob Camacho played all 90 minutes in goal for the Colonels and made one save.
