Women’s soccer earns shutout win over Berry

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre women's soccer team picked up a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) win on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Berry College at Amend Field.  

Centre moved to 6-1-4 overall and a perfect 2-0 in SAA play after the victory.   

GAME HIGHLIGHTS  
-The Colonels outpaced the visiting Vikings in shots (10-3) and shots on goal (5-0) in the first half. The home squad also had six corners to Berry's zero. Centre also held possession for a majority of the frame as they controlled the ball for 76 percent of the half. 
- In the 60th minute, the Colonels tallied the match's first goal. Megan Sidaway found the back of the net. Lindsay Carr took possession of the ball and sent it to Sidaway. She netted her goal to the left of the penalty arc.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE  
- Megan Sidaway's goal was her fourth of the season. Lindsay Carr's assist was her first of the 2023 campaign. 
- Centre took over six times as many shots as the Vikings. The Colonels had 25 total shots to Berry's four. Centre also kept the Vikings from taking any shots on goal while the Colonels had nine shots on frame.   
- Maggie Corbett and Sidaway led the match with six shots each. Three of Sidaway's shots were on goal while two of Corbett's were on frame. 
- Grace Dutcher earned the shutout after spending all 90 minutes in goal for the Gold and White and did not face any shots.  
- Centre was the only team to take any corner kicks as they were awarded eight.

The Colonels host Hendrix College in SAA action on Friday, Oct. 6. Kickoff from Amend Field is set for 6 p.m. ET.
