Colonels best Warriors at home

DANVILLE, Ky.- On Friday evening, Centre women's basketball returned to Alumni to host conference opponent Hendrix College. The Colonels' second-half shooting solidified a 58-47 victory over the Warriors.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS   
- Centre controlled the game in opening period, outscoring the Warriors 8-3 in the initial eight minutes. Hendrix eventually caught momentum but the Colonels answered every basket to leave the deficit at five entering the next quarter.
- Centre's Natalie Duggins opened the second period with a jumper that was quickly countered with the Warriors biggest run yet, tying the game with an 11-2 stretch. In the remaining minute of the half, Hendrix outscored Centre 4-2 to put them one possession ahead entering the break.
- Makya Grinter opened the second half with a deep three that put Centre back on top. Added baskets from both Anna Thomas and Bailey Rucker further stretched the Colonels' hold to six. The Warriors cut the deficit with successive baskets but another 11-2 scoring run from Centre granted the first double figured lead of the contest.
- The final period offered an evenly matched frame as the two teams matched one another with 12 points apiece. Already leading by double figures, the Colonels downed Hendrix 58-47, improving to 5-1 in the league. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE     
- Grinter led the court in points with 17. The sophomore, who was the only Colonel in double digit points, added four assists and one steal.
- Lilly Reid doubled all athletes in assists with eight.
- Centre just edged the Warriors out in rebounds, taking 39 to their 36.
-The Gold & White shot 83% from the line after going 5-6.
