Men’s soccer outranks Majors on Senior Day

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer picked up the team's first Southern Athletic Association (SAA) victory of the year thanks to a 3-1 win over Millsaps on Senior Day at Amend Field. 

The Colonels overall record sits at 9-2-2 and the SAA mark moved to 1-1-1 with the win. The  Majors fell to 0-4-0 in the SAA and 2-8-2 overall after the setback in Danville. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS   
- One goal was scored in the first frame and it was by a member of the Gold & White. Jafet Figueroa sent a shot from outside the box to AJ Daniels who used to head to give the Colonels an advantage in the 38th minute. 
- Senior Alec McAlister scored his first goal of the season on Senior Day. Ryan O'Hara passed a ball along the top of the box right to left to McAlister who got the crowd ignited with a score. 
- Another senior found the score sheet in the 58th minute. Luke Morgan shot a ball through a sea of purple kits to net the final Centre goal. 
- Millsaps scored one goal late in the contest, but the Colonels held on to take the 3-1 win in conference action. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE   
- Centre tied single game season highs in goals (3) and assists (2) in the Sunday matchup. 
- The 20 shots taken by the Gold & White are the second most in a match this season. The Majors were held to just six total shots, which is the second lowest for any opponent thus far in 2024. 
- Sunday marked the second time this season that the Colonels had three different goal scorers in one match.  
- Centre held on to the ball for a majority of the match. The Colonels had possession for 62 percent of the action. 
- Senior Brendan Egan was the keeper of note all 90 minutes. He stopped two shots. 

UP NEXT   
Centre is on the road for the remainder of the regular season. That three-match trip begins on Friday when the Colonels travel to Arkansas to face Hendrix at 7:30 p.m.
