Men’s soccer faces setback at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Centre men's soccer fell in the squad's 2024 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) season finale 3-1 to Sewanee. 

The Gold & White finished the regular season 10-3-3 and 2-2-2 in the SAA. The Tigers moved to 5-6-4 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS   
- For the second-straight match Ryan O'Hara scored the first goal. Tyler Smith sent a long pass to O'Hara who was on the far left side of the field. The freshman beat a defender and scored a goal that found home in the right corner of the net in the 11th minute. 
- Unfortunately for Centre, Sewanee answered with three goals of their own. Two of those scores came in the first half while the final was in the last frame. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE   
- The Colonel goal from Ryan O'Hara's was his second in as many games. 
- Tyler Smith's assist was the first of his collegiate career. 
- Centre converted the squad's goal on just four shots on goal. 
- The Colonels' 10 shots mark the ninth time this season that the Gold & White have taken double digit shots in a contest. 
- The shot on goal percentage for Centre sat at 70 percent at the end of the game, which is the second best for the Colonel this season. 
- Brendan Egan stopped eight shots over 90 minutes as the keeper for the Colonels. That tally marked his second most saves this season. 

LOOKING AHEAD 
- The Centre team is awaiting the results of the final SAA contest, Rhodes at Hendrix, to find out what seed the Colonel team will secure. 

UP NEXT   
Centre will play in the first round of the SAA Tournament on Saturday, November 2. The no. 2-4 seeds will host a game at campus sites.
