DANVILLE, Ky. – On Friday evening, the Colonels opened their play in the annual Lee's Famous Recipe/Hampton Inn Classic. Downing the Scots 65-47, Centre women's basketball remained undefeated at home, improving to a 6-1 overall record.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Bailey Rucker carried Centre's offense in the opening frame, netting 13 of the Colonels' 18 points. Maryville was silent in the initial minutes but caught traction, making it a two-point game approaching the media timeout. Out of the break, the Gold & White found much of their success at the line, going 8-10 in the remaining five minutes to bring the score to 18-14 entering period two.
- Both teams swapped six point runs in the second period, Maryville cutting the deficit to as little as one, Centre stretching it to as much as seven. Heading into the break, Centre led 37-31 thanks to a pair of late jumpers from
Lilly Reid.
- Opening the second half, Centre took their first double figure lead with a 7-2 run,
Lindsay Jessie pacing the team from the paint. The Scots wouldn't find momentum as the Colonels held them to just four points in the period. Entering the final ten minutes, Centre led by 14.
- The Colonels further distanced themselves with a 7-3 run in the initial minutes, many of which were at the charity stripe. The Scots continued to place Centre at the line as
Kylie Floyd and
Emma Perna went 3-4 in final possessions. Maryville closed the game with a late lay-up, freezing the score at 65-47, the Colonels favoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rucker led Centre offensively with 15 points. The senior secured her second double-double of the young season as she added 10 rebounds to her double-digit points.
- Jessie matched her career high of 14 points. The sophomore tied for the game's leader in both blocks and steals with two each.

Arin Nipp fronted the court in rebounds with 12.
- Centre dominated all facets of the game, favoring in rebounds (38-24), blocks (4-3), points from turnovers (17-5), second chance points, (14-0), bench points, (31-15), points in the paint (30-22), and fast break points (7-0).
