DANVILLE, Ky. – On Saturday afternoon, the Gold & White hosted Hanover for the final game of the 2024 Lee's Famous Recipe/Hampton Inn Classic. Although battling back from an 11-point deficit, the Colonels fell to the Panthers by a score of 63-55, moving to a 6-2 overall mark.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers took an early lead, opening with an 11-0 run in the initial four minutes of play.
Lindsay Jessie eventually put Centre on the board from the floor,
Ka'Niah Edelen following with a pair of made free-throws.
Ryleigh Campbell later added five points with a made jumper and a three, but Hanover would ultimately favor 21-9 entering the next frame.
- Both teams matched one another point-for-point in the opening possessions of the second quarter. Centre caught momentum midway through, coming within eight after an 8-2 run from
Katelyn Stiltner and
Bailey Rucker.
Lilly Reid closed the period with a long ball to set the halftime score at 34-27, the Panthers leading.
- Out of the locker room, the trading game continued. Centre eventually cut the lead to four with unbroken baskets from Reid and Rucker. From there, it remained a four-point game entering the last ten minutes.
- Just before the final media time out, Hanover held an 11-point hold. The Colonels regrouped for a late 7-0 rally to again come within four. Centre, forced to foul, placed Hanover at the line for the final four points of the game, freezing the score at 63-55, the Panthers favoring.
