DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre swimming & diving team kept positive momentum going as the Colonels swept Hanover College and Franklin College on Friday night inside Champions Hall.
The women took down Franklin 169-130 and Hanover 254-25. The men's team won 169-125 over Franklin and defeated Hanover 249-25.
The women's squad had seven different winners and all but two of theose Colonels had multiple wins.
Avery Gabbard,
Natalie Cox,
Callie West, and
Olivia Headley started the meet as most meets for the Colonels have: a win in the 400 medley relay. That team won in 4:00.87.
West went on to win three more events. The senior took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.84, which was the only sub-minute time in the race. She also won the 200 IM (2:10.66) and was first by over seven seconds. She wrapped up the night teaming up with Gabbard, Headley, and
Katelynn Stanczyk for a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:40.95).
Cox picked up two more wins on Friday night. She won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.28 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.37. Stanczyk was the final multiple event winner for the women. She had a win in the 1000 freestyle (11:02.79) to add to her win in the 400 freestyle relay.
Two more wins came for the women.
Caroline Short won the 200 butterfly in 2:19.25 and
Sarah Feild won the 500 freestyle in 5:23.79.
The men also opened up the meet with a relay win. The team of
Dustin Niebauer,
Tiernan Moore,
Jackson Fears, and
Ben Webster won the 400 medley relay in 3:34.82.
Fears and Webster earned another relay win to close the meet. The pair joined
George Von Canon and
Brady Miller to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:17.50. Miller added another win in the 200 freestyle (1:45.21).
Avery Balch continued his great season on the boards on Friday night. He won the one-meter dive with a score of 317.55 and the three-meter dive with a tally of 365.55. Both of those were NCAA cuts.
Three more Centre men earned wins.
Quinn Moore won the 1000 freestyle (10:34.11),
Ben Camp took first in the 100 butterfly (53.60), and
Jake Holmes touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:02.92).

The Colonels host a major event as the next event for Centre. The Speedo Mid Season Invite will take place Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24 inside of Champions Hall.
