SEWANEE, Tenn.- On Sunday afternoon, the Colonels returned to action in the 2024 Sewanee Classic. Facing Huntingdon in their first of two games, the Gold and White defeated the Hawks by a score of 63-50, improving to a overall 9-3 mark.

Bailey Rucker got the Colonels going, tying the game at 4-4 after the Hawks took an early lead. With just over two minutes to go, Rucker broke Centre's nearly six-minute scoring drought from the floor. A Rucker free throw and a two-pointer from
Ryleigh Campbell concluded the Colonels' scoring, halting the first quarter's score at 16-9, Huntingdon favoring.
- Rucker opened the second period with five quick points to put the Colonels within four. A mid-quarter lay-up from
Ka'Niah Edelen tied the game at 18-18 and just after,
Lindsay Jessie opened a 13-2 scoring streak for the Colonels.
Arin Nipp capped the run, and the half, with a buzzer beating long ball that handed Centre a 29-22 lead, their largest yet.
- Huntingdon initiated the second half with a 7-2 run that tied the game at 31-31 three minutes in. Centre answered with a 14-5 run to take the first double-digit lead of the game, 45-35, entering the final frame.

Emma Perna drained one from behind the arc to open the Colonels' fourth period. The Hawks eventually cut the deficit back to single digits with seven unanswered points until Rucker stopped the run with a layup in the fifth minute. Reid, Rucker, and Edelen outscored the Hawks 11-7 in final minutes. With a closing score of 63-50, the Colonels secured their seventh double figure win of the season.

- Rucker led the game in points with 25. The senior added seven rebounds and an assist.
- Nipp led the Colonels off the glass with 10 rebounds.
- Reid led the game in assists with four.
- Centre led in rebounds with 49 compared to Huntingdon's 32.
- The Gold and White dominated in both bench points (18-6) and second chance points (12-7).
