SEWANEE, Tenn.- Centre women's basketball returned to Juhan Gymnasium to round out their play in the 2024 Sewanee Classic. After a slow start, the Colonels' fourth-quarter rally fell short to the Grizzlies, suffering a 65-59 loss.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels were silent in the opening minutes, trailing by 10 points in the initial four minutes.
Lilly Reid eventually put Centre on the board with a lay-up directly followed by a made free-throw from
Lindsay Jessie. Franklin persisted from behind the arc to regain a double-digit lead before
Anna Thomas kick started a 10-0 run to bring Centre within seven entering the second frame.

Ka'Niah Edelen initiated the period with a lay-up and connected free-throw but by the media timeout, the Grizzles halted Centre to those three points while netting 10 themselves. Out of the break,
Claire Russell,
Katelyn Stiltner, and Reid matched Franklin with six points, freezing the score at Franklin 41, Centre 27 entering halftime.
- Two minutes into the second half Stiltner opened an 8-2 scoring stretch with back-to-back jumpers, forcing Franklin to burn a timeout. Out of the rest, the two teams nearly matched one another in points, Franklin with seven, Centre with five and heading into the final period, the Colonels trailed 54-42.
- The Gold & White had their best offensive showing in the fourth, opening with a pair of buckets from Russell and
Bailey Rucker followed by a three from Thomas to cut the deficit to five. Post media timeout, Jessie, Reid, and Rucker outscored the Grizzlies 6-5, making it a one basket game with two minutes to go. In the game's final minute, Franklin bettered Centre 8-4, freezing the score at 65-59, the Grizzlies favoring.

- Stiltner tied for the game's leader in rebounds with ten. The senior added eight points.
- Jessie and
Arin Nipp tied one another for the game's leader in blocks with two apiece.
- The Colonels favored from the paint with 44 points compared to Franklin's 34.
