ATLANTA- Women's basketball traveled to Oglethorpe for their 2024-25 conference opener. Outscoring their opponents in every frame, the Colonels secured their first Southern Athletic Association (SAA) win with a 60-43 victory over the Stormy Petrels, improving to a 10-4 record, 1-0 in the league.

Ryleigh Campbell added a long ball before the Stormy Petrels began to chip away at the Colonels' early lead. Midway through the quarter, the score showed a tie at 8-8 and after trading baskets for the remainder of the frame, the score read 15-14, Centre favoring.
- The Colonels created distance with a 14-4 run initiated by
Arin Nipp from behind the arc.
Anna Thomas added another three while
Lilly Reid found success from the floor. Oglethorpe outscored the Colonels 8-4 in the final three minutes, cutting the deficit to seven entering halftime.
- The Stormy Petrels commenced the second half with five quick points to come within one basket. The Colonels then ignited, trailing away with 17 unanswered points, nine belonging to Reid and four to
Ka'Niah Edelen. After six minutes of silence, Oglethorpe tallied five made free throws that surrounded a pair from Edelen. Entering the final frame, the Colonels held a comfortable 16-point lead.
- Centre outscored the Petrels 8-7 in the final ten minutes, Reid netting six and Nipp with two. When time expired, the Colonels came out on top with a 60-43 win over Oglethorpe.

- Reid more than double all other athletes in both points and assists, having a career high of 24 points, adding five assists. The sophomore also tied for game's leader in both steals (three) and blocks (one).
- Nipp tied for game's leader in rebounds with seven.
- The Colonels favored in the paint with 28 points compared to Oglethorpe's 18.
- Centre took more off the glass, having 28 rebounds versus the Stormy Petrel's 32.
