Knowlton nets game winner versus Elmhurst

DANVILLE, Ky.- The Centre men's lacrosse team opened their 2024 campaign by hosting Elmhurst. Claiming the late goal, Centre's Ridr Knowlton broke the tie to hand the Colonels the first win of the season.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Elmhurst got on the board first, netting a goal in the first four seconds, adding a second a minute later. Noah Malubay put Centre on the board with the helper from Ryan Black. The Bluejays would find another goal before Ben Hubbs joined the scoring column with an unassisted goal to close the period.
- Elmhurst opened the next quarter with three uncontested goals in the first four minutes. Centre bounced back with a trio of goals from David Caldwell, Max Speers, and a buzzer-beating score from Ryan Black that put Centre one-point ahead entering halftime.
- Ridr Knowlton carried Centre's momentum into the second half, finding the back of the net just 15 seconds in. Both squads collected two additional goals in the quarter, leaving the game tied at 8-8 entering the final period. 
- The Gold & White opened the fourth quarter with a pair of goals from Speers and Malubay, Ryan Black assisting both. After nearly ten minutes of silence from the Bluejays, Centre claimed its largest lead yet (10-8). Elmhurst eventually broke the silence with two goals that re-tied the game at 10-10. With two minutes to go in the game, Hubbs connected with Knowlton for the game-winner during a man-up opportunity. At the close of regulation, the score read 11-10, Centre favoring. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Speers fronted the Colonels in goals with three. Malubay, Caldwell, and Knowlton followed just after with two apiece. 
Ryan Black led the game in assists with five total. 
- At face off, Elmhurst favored with 15 of 24 wins.
- In goal, Kyle Granquist stuffed 17 of Elmhurst's shots. 
The Colonels completed 24 of their 29 clear attempts.

Centre men's lacrosse will remain at home for their next contest. They'll host Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. ET.
