Duggins nets game winner against Oglethorpe

DANVILLE, Ky.- The women's basketball team traveled south for their final road game of the 2023-24 regular season. After a close, four-quarter battle, Centre completed the series sweep when Natalie Duggins scored the game winning free-throw in the final minute.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Stormy Petrels set the pace in the opening frame, taking an early 4-2 lead in the initial minute. Lilly Reid gave Centre their only lead of the quarter when she answered from long range. A following trio of baskets from Oglethorpe set the Colonels back which assisted to a six-point deficit entering quarter two.
- The Petrels continued their push into the second period, opening with nine points that sandwiched a jumper from Lindsay Jessie. The Colonels struck hot for the remainder of the half. Bailey Rucker opened the streak from the paint while Reid followed with a lay-up and connected free throw. Makya Grinter and Emma Rose Vincent later closed the run at the charity line, connecting free-throws with previous baskets to give Centre a three-point edge heading into halftime.
- Coming out of the locker room, Oglethorpe swiftly stole the lead with three unanswered buckets. Continuous baskets from Grinter, Rucker, and Arin Nipp gave Centre a one-possession hold before Reid would continue the push from behind the arc. Anna Thomas followed suit with another three moments later, further stretching Centre's control and moving the score to 49-45 entering the final frame.
- Rucker and Vincent highlighted the final quarter's scoring. Rucker opened from long range and for every Petrels basket, the Colonels had an answer. In the final minute of regulation, the score showed a tie at even 57s until Natalie Duggins was placed on the charity stripe. With 21 seconds remaining, the senior clinched victory with a singular made free-throw, moving the score to Centre 58, Oglethorpe 57.
