DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's lacrosse took to South Turf to host Oberlin in their 2024 home opener. The Colonels battled hard against the Yeowomen, but a slow start halted the Gold and White in the 20-6 loss.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre's
Lily Gahm opened the game's scoring less than a minute in. In response, Oberlin tallied a flurry of goals to steal the lead early on.
Haley Rice eventually joined the scoring column with 18 seconds left in the period. Answering with a buzzer beating goal, the Yeowomen led 7-2 entering quarter two.
- Oberlin carried their scoring streak into the second period. Holding the Colonels scoreless and simultaneously netting six themselves, the Yeowomen held an 11-point edge into halftime.
- The Colonels were able to hit back with a pair of goals in the third frame, Rice netting her second and
Mary Margaret Bryant collecting her first.

Ella Treinen and Gahm highlighted Centre's fourth quarter-scoring. Gahm striking first with an unassisted goal, Treinen following in the next possession with the helper from
Addie Lewis. At regulation's end, the score was finalized at 20-6, Oberlin favoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gahm and Rice led the Colonels in goals, each with two. Gahm led in total points after adding an assist.
- Treinen and Lewis tied for the most caused turnovers within Centre's roster, each had two.
- Rice and Gahm tied for the game's lead in ground balls with seven each.
- In goal,
Mary Haley and
Gracey Falk split time. Together the two tallied 12 saves.
