DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball continued its weekend dominance as the team earned two run-rule wins over Hendrix College in the final two games of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) series.
The Colonels improved to 6-10 overall and an even 3-3 in the SAA at the end of the series, while the Warriors fell to 3-9 on the season and 0-3 in the conference.
GAME ONE: Centre 11, Hendrix 3 (6 innings)
- The start of the first game of the day made it appear it was going to be a long one for the Gold & White. A two RBI single in the first and a score on a ground out put Hendrix up 3-0 at the end of the top of the second inning.
- Centre tied it up at 3-all in the bottom of the fourth. A
Layne Ogle single placed the sophomore on base.
Rylie Bentley hit a double to left center next and scored Ogle. The left center sweep spot continued as
Hailey Watson hit an RBI double to to the same spot immediately after Bentley did. A
Kaylee Gregory single to center field scored the final run of the inning.

Andrea Searcy triple, a
Morgan Tabor sacrifice fly, a Bentley single, and a Gregory single.

- Centre softball secured the run rule with a thrilling final inning.
Emily Lammers hit a leadoff single to start the sixth. Searcy walked next and then
Madalyn Irwin, pinch-running for Searcy, and Lammers moved to scoring position on a wild pitch. A fielder's choice followed that scored Lammers and then a ground out brought another home.
- The final two runs of the game came via a walk-off home run by Bentley to make the final tally 11-3.

Lucy Baseheart pitched the complete six innings for the Colonels and struck out four batters. She allowed just three runs across 23 at-bats.
