Colonels remain unblemished in the league with 23-10 victory over Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark.- Women's lacrosse traveled to Hendrix for their first game of spring break. Achieving running clock in the first half, the Colonels bettered their Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponent 23-10 to improve to a 2-0 mark in the league. 

HIGHLIGHTS
 - Centre asserted their dominance in the opening quarter. Although the Warriors tallied the first point, Centre answered with three straight goals to take the lead. Ella Treinen claimed the first followed directly by scores from Mary Margaret Bryant and Emma Botts. Hendrix retied the game with two successive goals but just after, Haley Rice opened an 8-1 scoring run to put the Colonels ahead for good. With notable goals from Riley Jackson and Isa Stumpf, the Gold & White led 11-4 entering quarter two.
- Megan Gilmour joined the scoring column with the first goal of the next frame. By the end of the quarter, the Colonels tallied three additional points while the Warriors claimed one. Entering the second half, the game entered running clock as Centre led by double figure points. 
- The Warriors momentarily returned the game to normal clock with a pair of unbroken goals to start the second half, but Addie Lewis and Bryant hit back with a pair themselves. Registering two additional goals to close the period, the Colonels led 19-8 entering the final 15-minutes of play.
- Botts netted the first goal of the quarter a minute in and just 40 seconds later, rookie Sophia Richardson added another point. Botts later closed the game with a free position goal that finalized the score at Centre 23, Hendrix 10. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Botts and Rice tied for the game's leader in goals with five apiece.
- Lewis and Treinen tied for the Colonels' lead in draw-controls with seven each. 
- Lewis and Rice tied for the game's leader in caused turnovers with three apiece.
- The Colonels completed 100 percent of their clears (13-13).
- In goal, Mary Haley stuffed six from the Warriors while Gracey Falk stopped two. 
- Centre dominated in shots, clears, ground balls, and free-position goals. 

UP NEXT
The Gold & White will continue their trek south to face non-conference opponent Piedmont on March 20th.
