GAME HIGHLIGHTS
-
Izzy Rushing led off the game with a single to right field for the Colonels. She made it to second on a bunt from
Cheney Floyd, but the Centre team was stopped on a ground out and a strike out.
- The bottom half of the first frame was kind to the Vikings as they tacked on three runs.
- The Gold & White had back-to-back singles, following a strike out the lead-off batter, thanks to
Layne Ogle and
Rylie Bentley in the top of the second. Unfortunately, the Colonels were unable to capitalize on the offensive momentum.
- Berry added one additional run in each of the second and third innings to build a 5-0 lead.
- Despite being down late in the game, Centre kept rallying. Floyd walked to start the top of the sixth frame. She was then put out on a double play, but
Andrea Searcy gave hope again with a single to center field. That was short lived as the next Colonel tallied an out.
- The Vikings added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to close the game out and earn the win.
-
Kaylee Gregory was the starting pitcher for Centre and she went a full inning.
Lucy Baseheart was next and pitched four and two thirds innings and struck out four batters. Searcy came in for the final two batters of the contest.
