Kenyon’s second half run downs Colonels

GAMBIER, Ohio- On Saturday, the Centre men's lacrosse team traveled north to face non-conference opponent Kenyon. After a fierce battle, the Colonels suffered their first loss and move to a 3-1 overall mark. 

HIGHLIGHTS
 - Centre opened the game hastily, finding two goals in the opening five minutes. David Caldwell initiated the scoring while Noah Malubay doubled the score three minutes later. The Owls hit back with a goal, but Ryan Black answered a minute later. Kenyon claimed the quarter's final goal, moving the score to Centre 3, Kenyon 2, entering the next period.
- The Owls tied the game less than a minute into the second, doubling down with another score 40 seconds later. Griffin Weiss returned the game to tie just before Caldwell transferred the lead back to Centre with the helper from Max Speers. By the close of the first half, Graysen Jolly, Ridr Knowlton, and Speers entered the scoring column, assisting to Centre's three-point edge entering halftime.
- The Owls stormed into the second half with four unanswered goals to steal the lead. After ten silent minutes from the Colonels' offense, Ryan Black opened a late, three-goal scoring run. Knowlton closed the third quarter with the assist of Black, moving the score to 11-9 entering the final frame. 
- Kenyon controlled the fourth quarter, opening with seven unbroken goals. With Speers collecting the Colonels' singular goal of the period, the final score was set at Kenyon 17, Centre 12. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Malubay, Knowlton, Caldwell, Black, and Speers tied for Centre's leader in goals, each having two. Wiess and Jolly trailed closely with one apiece.
- Patrick Tatro fronted the game in caused turnovers with two. 
-  Centre led in clears, completing 15 of their 16 attempted. The Owls went 9-13. 
- Kenyon favored at the faceoff, winning 22 of the 33 taken.

Centre men's lacrosse will return home to host Albion on March 7th in a mid-week match-up.
