Women's lacrosse outlasts Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga.- Centre women's lacrosse traveled to Oglethorpe for their third Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest of the campaign. After a close, four-quarter battle, the Colonels bettered the Stormy Petrels 19-17, improving to a 3-0 mark in the league. 

HIGHLIGHTS
 - Centre commenced the game's scoring, hastily taking the lead with four successive goals from Ella Treinen, Emma Botts, and Haley Rice. After going up 4-0 in the opening five minutes, the Colonels fell silent. Oglethorpe gained control with seven unbroken goals, shifting the score to 7-4, the Stormy Petrels favoring.
- Oglethorpe opened the next period on the arc. Centre hit back with four free-position scores of their own, tying it back up at 8-8. For the remainder of the half, each team matched one another point for point and by halftime, the score read Oglethorpe 10, Centre nine. 
- Out of the break, Centre took advantage of Oglethorpe fouls, netting a free-position in Botts followed by a woman-up goal from Sophia Richardson. The Stormy Petrels answered but Isa Stumpf returned the lead to Centre with another woman-up score. Oglethorpe closed the frame with two additional goals, halting the score at 14-13 in their favor. 
- The Colonels pulled away in the final frame, starting with four running goals from Botts, Riley Jackson, Treinen, and Gracie Garner. The Stormy Petrels notched a pair back-to-back but later goals from Treinen and Stumpf solidified the score at Centre 19, Oglethorpe 17. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Treinen tied for the game's leader in goals with six.
- Lewis fronted Centre in caused turnovers with two.
- The Gold & White favored in free-positions, making eight of their ten attempted while the Petrels went 1-6.
- In the crease, Gracey Falk collected 10 saves while conducting the Colonels to 14-17 clears.
