DANVILLE, Ky.- On Saturday, the Centre women's lacrosse team returned to South Turf to host Southern Athletic Association's (SAA) Rhodes. Although a close first quarter, the Lynx pulled away in the second half to better the Colonels 19-7.
The Gold & White move to a 9-3 overall record and 3-1 in the league.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The game opened at a competitive pace with both teams tallying four goals in the initial period. Rhodes registered the first point seconds in. Centre's
Ella Treinen answered with the first of three unbroken goals for the Colonels.
Riley Jackson followed while
Lily Gahm's unassisted goal closed the run. The Lynx hit back with a pair, but Jackson quickly regained Centre's lead with the helper from Treinen. Rhodes registered one additional point to tie it back up at 4-4 entering the next period.
- Rhodes separated themselves with five unanswered goals in the second quarter. Rendered scoreless, Centre trailed 4-9 entering halftime.

Emma Botts opened the second half with a goal a minute in, and for the next seven minutes, the two teams matched one another point for point. Midway through, the Lynx struck hot with a 5-1 scoring stretch to give them an eight-point edge entering the final frame.
- The Lynx owned the fourth period, netting four successive while holding Centre scoreless. At the close of regulation, the final score was set at 19-7, Rhodes favoring.

- Jackson and Treinen fronted Centre in goals with two apiece.
- Treinen fronted the Colonels in draw controls with three.
- In goal,
Mary Haley and
Gracey Falk shared time. Together the unit stopped five and led the Colonels to 17-25 clears.
