BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Colonels traveled to Birmingham Southern College (BSC) for their second Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest of the season. Taking the lead in the opening frame, Centre men defeated their conference opponent 14-11, improving to a 7-3 overall record and 1-1 in the league.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels dominated the opening 15 minutes, going up 6-1 on the Panthers.
Max Speers initiated the game off a feed from
Graysen Jolly, the Panthers answering with their only goal in frame. Less than a minute later,
David Caldwell opened a 5-0 stretch for Centre with notable goals from
Noah Malubay,
Miguel Sayers, and a pair of man-up goals from Speers and Caldwell.
- The Colonels continued to set the pace as Caldwell claimed a hat-trick with the first score of the second period. BSC cut the deficit with back-to-back goals, but Speers answered with his third goal to clinch the hat-trick. The Panthers closed the half with one additional goal, adjusting the score to 8-4 entering the break.
- Out of halftime, BSC struck hot with a pair of goals to come within two. Nine seconds later,
Ryan Black joined the scoring column, simultaneously opening a 3-0 run for the Colonels.
Ridr Knowlton closed the frame with the help of Malubay, moving the score to Centre 12, BSC seven.
- Closing the third quarter with a penalty, the Panthers headed into the final period a man down. Taking advantage, Caldwell tallied the Colonels' third man-up goal of the game just 30 seconds in. BSC attempted a comeback in the final 12 minutes, outscoring Centre 4-1. Still leading by three, the Colonels notched their first SAA win of the season with a final score of 14-11.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Caldwell led the field in both goals and points with six. Speers followed closely with four goals.

Dylan Croft led the game in 50/50 balls with a career high of 21 groundballs.
- In goal,
Ramsay Cole tallied eight saves and conducted the Colonels to 21-25 successful clears.
- The Gold & White dominated at the face-off. Representing Centre, Croft went 25-27, halting BSC to just four total successes in the 60-minutes.
