LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Centre men's lacrosse traveled down the road to face in-state opponent Spalding. Outscoring the Eagles 20-3, the Colonels move to a 5-1 overall mark.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Goals came early and often for the Colonels, outscoring the Eagles 7-0 in the opening frame. Rookie
Ryan Hall initiated the scoring with following goals coming from
Connor Aschman,
Conner Maggard,
Jack Cunningham,
Nick Witcher, and
Bryant Brown.
- The Colonels carried their momentum into the next period, opening with a goal from
Nate Malubay a minute in. Spalding answered with their first goal of the contest, but Centre's
Andrew Dittmore responded with his first collegiate goal. Closing the half with a 4-0 scoring streak, Centre held an 11-point edge entering the halftime break.
- The Gold & White continued to pull away in the second half. By the end of regulation
Ben Zickel and
Jack Furlong joined the scoring column as Hall, Aschman, and Cunningham clinched a hat-trick each. Spalding closed the game with two late goals, moving the final score to Centre 20, Spalding three.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Aschman led the game in goals with four while Dittmore fronted the contest in points with eight, each statistic being a career high for the two Colonels.
- Centre dominated in 50/50 balls with 46 compared to Spalding's 14.
- In goal,
Avi Leffler,
Ramsay Cole,
Hayden Burns, and
Graham Driscoll split time. Together the unit stuffed four of the Eagles' seven shots.
- The Colonels completed six of seven clear attempts; The Eagles completed 11 of their 17 clears.
