DANVILLE, Ky. – Dreary weather and a shifting of schedules did not dampen Centre softball's spirits, or bats, as they defeated Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponent Hendrix College 10-2 on Saturday night.
The Colonels are 4-10 overall and 1-3 in the SAA following the win, while the Warriors fall to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in league action.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- An RBI single scored the first run of the game for Hendrix in the top of the first, but Centre answered back in the next half inning with an RBI single from
Andrea Searcy sending
Izzy Rushing, who reached on a single of her own, home.
- The Gold & White scored again in the bottom of the second frame. An error at shortstop put
Layne Ogle on first.
Rylie Bentley followed that with a single, and then a ground out moved both runners into scoring position. A fielders choice for
Mia Tomillo scored Ogle, while a Rushing single tallied the third run for the Colonels.

Morgan Tabor showed off her power when she sent a homer run to center field in the third that brought both her and Searcy across home plate.
- The Warriors used a Centre miscue to score their final run of the game in the top of the fourth frame.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Colonels offensive firepower was on full display. Back-to-back RBI singles, one from Searcy and another from Tabor, moved the lead to 7-2. A Bentley double came one batter later and sent another two Centre runners home. The final run of the game came on a
Hailey Watson single to right field to make the tally 10-2.

Kaylee Gregory got the start for the Colonels in the circle and earned the win. She pitched four complete innings and struck out one while allowing only one earned run. Searcy pitched the final inning and allowed no runs or hits in that frame.
- The 12 hits tallied by Centre are tied for the most in a game this season, while the 10 RBI are the most since a game against Sewanee on April 1, 2023.
- As a team, the Colonels averaged .444. That mark is the highest batting average for the squad all season.
