Women's lacrosse thumps Muskingum

DANVILLE, Ky.- Centre women's lacrosse returned to South Turf to host non-conference opponent Muskingum University. Controlling the game from the initial quarter, the Colonels downed the Muskies 22-13, improving to a 5-2 overall mark.

HIGHLIGHTS
 - The Colonels got off to a hot start, tallying six-goals before the Muskies could register their first. Ella Treinen opened the contest 90 seconds in followed by unbroken goals from Haley Rice, Lily Gahm, Riley Jackson, and Emma Botts. Muskingum eventually caught traction with a quad of successive scores, but Centre's Rice tallied the final goal to move the score to Centre 7, Muskingum 4 entering the next quarter.
- Addie Lewis and Ellie Macdonald opened the second period, Lewis first followed by a free-position score from Macdonald. The Muskies hit back with two goals in the frame, but the Colonels continued to separate themselves with a 5-0 scoring streak. By the close of the half, Mary Margaret Bryant entered the scoring columns as Botts, Rice, Treinen, and Gahm registered their second and third goals. With the Colonels leading by ten, the game entered running clock to start the third frame.
- Rice swiftly opened the second half, finding her next goal on a fast break off her own draw control ten seconds in. Rice and Gahm each collected another point before the fourth, moving the score to 19-7, the Colonels' favoring.
- The final period was Muskingum's best yet, outscoring Centre 6-3 in the frame. With the Colonels already possessing a double-figure lead, the Muskies' late run wasn't enough to complete the comeback. At regulations' close, the score read Centre 22, Muskingum 13.
