DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball showed off a flair for the dramatic in a thrilling 8-7 walk-off win over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponent Birmingham-Southern on Sunday afternoon.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- In a repeat of the first two games of the series, the Panthers jumped out to an early lead. Four BSC runners came home in the first inning.

Morgan Tabor put the Colonels on the board in a big way in the bottom of the opening frame. The sophomore hit a solo home run over the fence to score the first Centre run.
- Three more runs came across for Birmingham-Southern thanks to an error and two singles spread across the second and third innings of action.
- In the bottom of the third the Colonels started a comeback. Singles from
Layne Ogle and Tabor plated two with just one out. An
Emily Lammers double sent Ogle streaking home.
Kaylee Gregory was at bat next and hit a two-RBI single that tacked on two more runs and cut the lead to 7-4.
- A sacrifice fly via the bat of
Lydia Rice scored another Gold & White run in the bottom of the fifth. The runner, Gregory, walked to land on first and then moved to third after a wild pitch and a
Cheney Floyd single.
- In a do-or-die seventh inning, Centre delivered. Gregory led off with a single but was tagged out on a fielder's choice that plated Floyd. Rice was next and hit a single which moved Floyd to second before a
Rylie Bentley fly out put her at third base.
Hailey Watson was up with two outs and delivered a double to left field that cut the lead to one.
Caroline Unruh was next up and hit a walk-off to left field that sent Watson and a pinch running
Andrea Searcy home to win the game 8-7.

Lucy Baseheart got the start but was immediately subbed out for Searcy. Searcy pitched two and two thirds innings before Baseheart replaced her in the circle. The senior went the final four and one third innings and allowed no runs on four hits while striking out one in her win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The game marked the 13th time this season that the Colonels have notched double-digit hits in a game.
- A tally of 14 hits is the second most in a game this season for the Gold & White.
UP NEXT
Three games remain in the regular season and they are all at home. Centre hosts Sewanee on Saturday, April 20 for a Senior Day doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. before playing the series finale the following day at the same time.
