Colonels rout Warriors in 19-10 triumph

DANVILLE, Ky.- On Sunday afternoon, Centre men's lacrosse hosted Southern Athletic Association's (SAA) Hendrix for their second to last game of the regular season. Although a close opening quarter, the Colonels pulled away with seven unanswered goals in the second, leading to a 19-10 victory over the Warriors.
 
The Colonels improve to an 11-3 overall record and 4-1 in the league. 

HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre's Ryan Black opened the scoring with ease, netting a goal less than a minute in. Hendrix hit back with three unbroken goals to take the lead, their only lead of the game. With five minutes to go, David Caldwell kick started a 3-0 scoring run after connecting with Ridr Knowlton. Following goals from Knowlton and Max Speers gave the Colonels the upper hand but one final point from the Warriors tied it back up at 4-4 entering period two.
- The Colonels separated themselves in the second period, outscoring the Warriors 7-0 in the frame. With notable goals from Caldwell, Speers, Black, and Jack Forrester, Centre held a seven-point edge entering halftime.
- The third period mimicked the first as both teams matched one another point for point. Hendrix opened the scoring, and the Colonels closed it. By the end of the quarter, Ryan Hall joined the scoring column and Centre continued to lead by seven.
- The final period saw four goals from Centre and two from their opponents. With six minutes to go, Connor Ashman notched his first goal while Bryant Brown followed minutes later with a man-up goal. With two minutes to go, Owen Belt closed the contest, finalizing the score at Centre 19, Hendrix 10.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Speers, Black, and Caldwell shared a three-way tie for the game's leading scorer, each netting four.
- Dylan Croft fronted the game in ground balls with 13.
- Carter Blessing fronted the Colonels in caused turnovers with a career high of three.
- In goal, Graham Driscoll, Ramsay Cole, and Hayden Burns split time. Together the trio stopped 12 and conducted Centre to 16-19 clears.

Men's lacrosse will return to Andy Frye for their final game of the 2024 regular season. They'll host SAA's Sewanee for their Senior Day celebrations on April 13th, at 1 p.m. ET.
