LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Finnegan Deem-Ranzetta's brace powered Centre men's soccer to a 3-1 win over Franklin College in the JR Hoe Invitational hosted by Spalding University.
The Colonels' sit at 1-0 after the first contest of the 2024 campaign.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The first goal of the match came with less than a minute left in the first half. Deem-Ranzetta was awarded a penalty kick and sent it into the net as the opposing keeper dived the other way.
- In the second half, the Grizzlies tallied their only game of the contest in the 53rd minute.
- The tie did not last long as Centre struck again less than two minutes later.
Jafet Figueroa sent a cross to
Drew Davidson who was just steps from the left goal post. He headed the pass in for the Colonel score.
- The goal that completed the brace took place in the 76th minute.
Amit Shahar sent a corner to Deem-Ranzetta who once again used his head to score a goal, in what was the final tally in a 3-1 win for the Gold & White.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre led in total shots by a tally of 12-2. In the first half they took seven attempts while the Grizzlies had a zero in the shots column.
- The Colonels also far outpaced Franklin in corner kicks with 13 to the opponent's one.

Finnegan Deem-Ranzetta's two goals are a new single-game career high for the Centre Colonel. He and
Drew Davidson tied for the game-high in shots with two.
- The two-goal win is the largest season-opening win for Centre since 2018.

Brendan Egan played all 90 minutes in goal for the Colonels.
