Women’s soccer falls in close fight with no. 2 Bears

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Centre women's soccer kept things close with the no. 2 Bears of Washington University in St. Louis in a 2-1 setback on Sunday afternoon.

The Colonels record sits at 0-1-1 in the early season.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- WashU was the only team in the first half to get a shot on goal off but it was stopped by Centre keeper Grace Dutcher. The Gold & White defense held stout and did not allow a score in the opening 45 minutes despite facing seven shots.
- A little over 10 minutes into the second half the Colonels struck. Lydia Bowling sent a ball, from the American football 20-yard line, to Alexis Kronenthal. The junior took a shot just to the left of the penalty arc and it made it past the keeper into the net.
- The home-standing Bears rallied back and tallied two goals in the second half. One came in the 66th minute and the other scored in the 73rd minute.
- A corner kick in the 88th minute gave Centre one more chance to even the score, but in the end no. 2 WashU prevailed by a 2-1 score.
