Field hockey drops in defensive battle

DANVILLE, Ky. – On Sunday, the Colonels hosted Ohio Wesleyan (OWU) for their final game of Family Weekend. In what proved to be a defensive clash, an early goal from the Battlin' Bishops downed the Colonels 1-0.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- OWU opened the game's scoring in the sixth minute, placing the only goal of the contest during a break away. The Colonels' defense rallied to stifle two corner opportunities for the Battlin' Bishops, goalkeeper Carlie McKenry denying three total shots.
- In the second frame, Centre's Reese Smith and Peyton Gahm attempted to put the Colonels on the board but would not complete a shot. Denying three more OWU shot attempts, the Gold & White halted the score at 1-0 entering halftime.
- The second half saw two shots from both squads, Centre's McKenry denying the Bishops' singular shot on frame. With neither team placing a goal, the score finalized at OWU one, Centre zero.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- McKenry fronted the game in saves, tallying six to the Bishops' zero.
- Emily Ritchie and Gahm attempted one shot on frame each.
- Centre favored in corners, having three compared to OWU's two.
